SUMMARY:World Breastfeeding Week Celebration
DESCRIPTION:World Breastfeeding Week was celebrated in the community by students from SNDT College of Home Science Pune in collaboration with Tara Mobile Creches (TMC) and Nutrition Society of India Pune Chapter. Students from Department of Food Science and Nutrition conducted interactive sessions on the ‘importance of breastfeeding’ and ‘complementary feeding for children in age group 6-12 months’ with lactating women. The sessions were conducted in the daycare centres at various construction sites in Pune adopted by TMC from 3rd to 7th August 2024. About 18 students from M.Sc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics participated in this activity. \nThe support and encouragement of Dr. Vrushali Nagarale\, (Principal\, SNDT College of Home Science)\, Ms. Anuja Kinikar (Head\, Dept of FSN\, SNDT College of Home Science Pune)\, Ms. Sanjali Ekatpure (Consultant\, Health and Nutrition\, TMC Pune) and Dr. Radhika Hedaoo (Convener\, NSI Pune Chapter) were highly appreciated. \n

SUMMARY:Workshop on “Creative and Readiness Activities for Young Children”
DESCRIPTION:On 9th August 2024\, the TY Human Development (HD) students participated in a workshop on “Creative and Readiness Activities for Young Children\,” conducted by Mrs. Vasavi Joshi\, a respected expert in early childhood education. The workshop aimed to equip students with a deep understanding of the critical role that readiness and creative activities play in the early stages of a child’s development. \nThe workshop delved into the realm of creative activities\, highlighting how they stimulate imagination\, problem-solving skills\, and emotional expression in children. Mrs. Joshi provided practical examples of such activities and discussed how they contribute to a child’s overall cognitive and emotional growth. In addition to the hands-on demonstrations\, the workshop covered the learning outcomes associated with both readiness and creative activities.. By the end of the session\, the students had a comprehensive understanding of how to implement these activities effectively in their future professional roles\, contributing to the holistic development of young children. This workshop served as a valuable educational experience\, enriching the students’ knowledge and preparing them for their future careers in human development and early childhood education. \n

DESCRIPTION:Sir Vithaldas Thackersey Commemoration Day was observed on 12th August 2024. Guest Speaker Dr Meena Aher\, Principal Jai Ganesh Education College\, shared her views on status of women and how educational opportunities helped in women empowerment. \nDr Meena Aher read excerpts from the play “Sthapana Mahila Vidyapithachi’ which is based on the Life of Sir Vithal Das Thackersey. Dr. Aher has written the script for the play. \nDr Vrushali Nagarale\, Principal SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune gave introduction of the program. Campus Co ordinator Prof. Sheetal More Madam guided the audience. Compering of the program was done by Dr. Lalieetaa Bbhagat. The program was attended by the heads of Institutions\, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff. \n

SUMMARY:Independence Day Celebration – 15th August 2024
DESCRIPTION:SNDT Women’s University’s Pune Campus celebrated the 78th Independence Day with immense pride and enthusiasm. The event was graced by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor\, Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo\,who presided over the function. The celebrations were marked by various events that showcased the spirit of patriotism and unity. \nThe dignitaries on the dias included Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madam\, Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo\, Senate Member\, Smt. Manjusha Kanade\, Senate Member Shri. Surendra Nirgude\, Prof. Jayashree Shinde\, Dean Interdisciplinary Studies\, Dr. Nalini Patil\, Director CHETNA\, Dr. Ashish Panat\, Director SNDTWU WISE\, Director of JDBIMSR\, Pune Dr. Mahesh Shitole\, Prof. Anjali Kadam\, Principal(Addl.Charge) SNDT College of Women for Arts and Commerce\, Principal of SNDT College of Eductaion \, Pune Dr. Sangita Shirode\, Dr. Bhaskar Igawe \, Head\, Dept. of Continuing and Lifelong Education\, Dr. Vilas Jadhav\, Deputy Librarian BMKRC\, Pune\, Dr. Rashmi Hasamnis\, Head PG Dept. of Commerce\, Pune along with Pune Campus Coordinator Prof.Dr. Sheetal More and Dr. Vrushali Nagarale\, Principal(Addl. Charge) of SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune. \nThe celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National flag. The flag hoisting was followed by by the National Anthem\, Maharashtra Geet\, University Song. The students of Department of Music for Post Graduate Studies and Research presented a special song instilling a sense of pride and patriotism among all present. \nThe highlight of the program was the Guard of Honour\, presented to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madam by the NCC cadets. The cadets demonstrated exceptional discipline and coordination. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor madam\, was felicitated by Dr. Vrushali Nagarale\, Principal (Addl.Charge) SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune which was the host college. The other dignitaries were also felicitated. The retiring staff members of the University were felicitated as per the tradition. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor madam felicitated Dr. Rashmi Hasamnis of Dept. of Commerce for Post Graduate Studies and Research. Since Dr. Surekha Bhagyawant\, faculty of SNDT College of Education\, was unable to attend the function her felicitation was received by her daughter\, Ms.Sumedha. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madam delivered her presidential address during the Independence Day program. Madam in the speech mentioned the significance of Independence Day and the responsibility that comes with the freedom we enjoy. She also emphasized the importance of education and the role of students in contributing to the nation’s progress. Her words were inspiring and left a lasting impact on everyone present. The Vice Chancellor Madam\, also praised the cadets for their dedication and the discipline they displayed\, emphasizing the role of the youth in safeguarding the nation’s future. \nThe program was compered by Shri. Hemant Patil\, faculty\, SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Sheetal More\, Campus Coordinator expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madam\, Head of Departments\, Principal of Colleges\, teaching and non teaching staff of the campus and all the participants. The Independence Day celebrations at SNDT Women’s University\, Pune Campus was a grand success\, filled with patriotism\, unity\, and pride. \n

SUMMARY:Deeksharambha Program
DESCRIPTION:The one-week Deeksharambha Program (Induction) which was held at SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune from 26th August 2024 to 31st August 2024 was\, organized as per the directives guided by NEP 2020 with an objective to introduce the first year students to various college related activities\, committees and career opportunities for their overall development in an all-new environment. The inauguration of the program was conducted on 26 th August 2024 at the hands of Dr. Vrushali Nagarale\, Principal who welcomed the students to the institute and congratulated them for securing admission in SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune. She motivated students to explore their academic interests and activities\, and make them work for excellence\, promote bonding within them\, build relations between teachers and students\, giving a broader view of life and character building. The key topics covered in the program were Student Support Schemes\, Mechanism of Antiragging Committee and Understanding Grievance Redressal\, Career in Management field along with visits to Maharshi Kutir\, BMK Knowledge Centre\, Department of Communication and Media Studies and JDBIMS College. Later it focused on NCC guidance and NSS activities along with sports and cultural events to enhance the physical and psychological wellbeing of the students. Distinguished speakers and eminent people from varied backgrounds were invited to illuminate their minds with an approach of holistic development of the students. A total of 125 students participated in this program and all the Faculty\, non-teaching staffs and student mentors from across programs worked extensively to ensure that the induction program was well organized. \n
