SUMMARY:DEEKSHARAMBHA (Induction Programme)
DESCRIPTION:The Deeksharambh was inaugurated on Monday\, 4th September 2023. This program was an orientation for F.Y. BSc. and F.Y M. Sc. students. Prof. Sachin Deore(Principal\, Addl. Charge)\, Dr. Vrushali Nagarale (Admission Committee In-charge)\, Mrs. Madhuri Ratnaparkhi (IQAC Coordinator) and admission committee members arranged the activities for the Deeksharambh program. The weeklong Deeksharambhprogram\, (from 4th September to 9th September 2023) included lectures and visits to the colleges in the SNDT Women’s University Campus\, Pune. \nProf. Sachin Deore (Principal\, Addl. Charge) briefed the audience about the University and the difference between SNDT Women’s University and other Universities. Dr. Vrushali Nagarale (Admission Committee In-charge) explained the importance and objectives of arranging various lectures and visits to the various institutes on the campus.  \nMs. Anuja Bhise briefed about NSS\, Ms. Tisha Oswal spoke about Sports and Ms. Himani Yakkundi shared her experiences of the cultural events and Annual gathering (Spectrum) program. Vote of thanks were proposed by Ms. Anushka Saharabuddhe. Dr. Lalieetaa Bbhagat compered the program. \nOn 4th September 2023\, visit to Karve Kutir and Department of Communication and Media Studies SNDT College of Arts and Commerce for Women. \nOn 5th and 6th September 2023\,Orientation at SNDT BMK Knowledge Resource Centre  \nOn 7th September 2023\, Major Kashifa Inamdar briefed about the NCC programs. \nOn 7th September 2023\, in the afternoon. Dr. Anamika Singh\, Director of JanakideviBajaj Institute of Management interacted with students \nOn 8th September 2023\, students were taken to the Medical camp in Tarapore Hall. \nOn the 9th September 2023 visit to the College of Education was arranged. \nThe Deeksharambh concluded on 9th September 2023. \n\n    \n

SUMMARY:National Nutrition Month
DESCRIPTION:National Nutrition Month \nNational Nutrition Month was celebrated throughout September 2023 in the community by students from SNDT College of Home Science Pune in collaboration with Tara Mobile Creches (TMC) and Nutrition Society of India Pune Chapter. Students from department of Food Science and Nutrition enthusiastically conducted ‘Nutrition education through play and entertainment’ in the day-care centres at construction sites in Pune adopted by TMC. 32 students from M.Sc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics participated in this activity. \n  \n  \n     \n  \n  \nOn 2nd September 2023\, ‘A Fun Nutrition Activity’ for pre-schoolers was organised in in association with Uprisers Preschool\, Ravet\, Pune. The children learnt about basics of Nutrition\, Hygiene and Health from the students of M Sc CND. \n   \n  \n

SUMMARY:Breast Feeding Week
DESCRIPTION:SNDT College of Home Science Pune chapter in collaboration with the Anusandhan trust’s Sathi (Support for Advocacy and Training to Health Initiative) participated in the World Breastfeeding Week activity. Students from department of Food Science and Nutrition actively participated in the meetings at community centres along with ArogyaSathi from Sathi. Students discussed the Benefits of breastfeeding to babies\, Galactagogues\, Healthy plate for lactating women\, Complementary foods: Food square for babies aged 6 months and above with the help of informative posters. 22 students from M.Sc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics participated in this activity in the month of August 2023.

Anita Praveen\, Secretary\, MoFPI GOI\, Sh. Sunil Chavan\, Agriculture Commissioner\, GOMH\, Dr. Raghav Jadli\, President\, AIFPA\, & Sh. M.A. Tejani\, Former President\, AIFPA & M.D Gits Food Products. \nProf. Sachin Deore\, Principal Addl. Charge welcomed the guests and briefed the audience about the SNDT Women’s University and also delivered the theme address. \nExcellent Technical Sessions were delivered by experts from Regulatory Officer\, Nutritionist\, Technology and Processing Sector. \nPMFME Schemes were highlighted through officials of State Nodal Agency\, Maharashtra. As well as the beneficiaries of scheme shared their experiences. \nOver 400 registration were received and 25 stalls exhibited products made from Millets. Students of SNDT College of Home Science Pune performed street plays for creating awareness about consumption and benefits of millets . \nThe students of SNDT College of Home Science also put up a stall and served millets based products. \nThe students efforts were highly appreciated by the visiting officials. \n

The program included an online webinar on ‘Nutritious Grains for Health and Wellness’. The programme also included a E Poster contest on the topic ‘Maintaining Health with Millets’. Our students bagged the first and the third prize and three consolation prizes. \n

DESCRIPTION:College conducted a Career Guidance program in association with BNI (Business Networking India\, Business Voices) to orient the students about Business and Job Opportunities having relevance to the specializations offered by SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune on 17th March 2023. On Campus Recruitment drive was also arranged which received good response from the final year students and alumni as the skill based approach of the syllabi of Home Science prepares the students to face the professional set up. Principal Prof. Sachin Deore highlighted importance of conducting such programs to give exposure to the students regarding the professional world. SUMMARY:Celebration of National Science Day
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of National Science Day\, a program was organized by Science Department on 28th February 2023. The Chief guest for the program was Mr. Mahesh Saha and the guest speaker was Dr. Satish Naik\, who delivered speech on “Role of Millets in Ancient Agriculture in India”. Through his speech\, students gained knowledge regarding the Ancient millets and their benefits.  \nOn the same day an exhibition arranged. The students of first year enthusiastically participated in the same focusing on the experiments\, which can be easily performed by using available house hold materials like oil\, colour\, baking soda\, vinegar etc. One of the experiments\, “Floating Lamp” was the centre of attraction.  \nA Science quiz was organised in the format of written MCQ Pattern on 1st March 2023. 58 students from various colleges on the Pune campus participated in the same. DESCRIPTION:NSS Special Residential Camp Was Held at Netaji Shubhash Chadra Bose Army School\, Phulgoan\, Near Alandi\, Pune\, Maharastra from 13th to 19th February 2023. The objective of the camp was to identify the needs and problems of the community and to develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among the students. The activities included performance of street plays\, cleanliness drive etc. \nSome activities were held at the college campus which included cleanliness drive\, and extension and community outreach activities in Mega City Community\, Karve Road\, Pune. \n

DESCRIPTION:A field trip cum workshop on screen printing and block printing was organised at ‘Screen – O – Make’ unit near Nanded City\, Sinhagad Road\, Pune for TY TSAD students on 28 January. Mr Vishwas Phadke\, owner of the unit gave in-depth knowledge regarding the textile printing techniques. Experts at the unit taught students the method and technique of block printing in one and multicolours. Screen developing technique was also taught to them. Students printed their own samples using both the printing methods.
