SUMMARY:Yog Day Celebration
DESCRIPTION:‘Yog Divas’ was celebrated on 21st June 2022. International Yoga expert\, Dr. Manali Deo interacted with the students and staff and stressed upon the importance of yoga for good mental and physical health. Students and staff did some yoga exercises under her guidance and instructions. \nOn the same day\, a certificate course in Yoga was inaugurated for a batch of 30 students. The resource person being Dr. Manali Deo. Principal Dr. Muktaja Vikas Mathkari inspired and motivated the students to participate actively in the course.

SUMMARY:NSS Camp
DESCRIPTION:NSS camp was held from 7th June 2022 to 13th June 2022. Advocate Rohini Bodhani inaugurated the camp and also the Green Club and Environment awareness week activities. Dr. Vishnu Shrimangale\, SWACH NGO and the team members from ‘National Centre for Environment Education’ conducted a workshop for the students from 8thJune to 12th June 2022. The students experienced the need of mindful living and a sense of empathy towards every job and individuals employed on those jobs and treat them with respect. \nThis camp gave the students insights on various areas such as environmental awareness\, sapling plantation\, street plays etc. The students planted saplings in the college campus and took care by watering them. \nStudents were taken to a nearby ‘Megacity Community’ where they performed street plays to create awareness regarding waste management and reuse of plastic. Along with waste management\, the students covered various areas under sustainable development such as biodiversity\, water management\, electricity management\, etc. They also taught the children from the community how to create something useful and beautiful using technique of ‘Best out of Waste’. This included techniques like quilling\, preparing bottle stands\, reel stands\, ice cream stick whistles etc. \nDuring the camp the students got an opportunity to interact with an alumnus Miss Krupa Adapawar who is pursuing her Masters in Communication Media for Children from our own SNDT campus. \nNSS camp was a new and reliving experience for students. The camp helped the students in their overall development. NSS PO Dr. L. Bbhagat and Dr. P. Patankar guided the students during the camp. \n

Ms. Hetvi Shah is a 2nd year student of M.Sc. Nutrition and Food Processing and has always had a keen interest in sports and pursued playing Volleyball at Intercollegiate level since 2014. Some of her achievements include Best Sports Woman Award for 2014-2015\, representing SNDTWU at the Interuniversity sports meet in 2017-18 and representing Mumbai suburbs in Maharashtra Interzone State Volleyball championship.

SUMMARY:Staff Welfare Program
DESCRIPTION:As a part of staff welfare\, the staff welfare committee of the college\, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Muktaja Vikas Mathkari\, organized a one day workshop on “Stress Management and Team Building” for the teaching and the non- teaching staff of SNDT College of Home Science on 26th April 2022. The program was arranged at Kolwan\, away from the college premises\, so as to have a relaxing atmosphere and the interaction among the staff would be possible in a stress free environment. \nShri Ashish Joshi\, Corporate trainer was the resource person for the workshop. He conducted activity based sessions on understanding stress\, stressors\, and the ways to deal with stress. Activities underlining the importance of working in a team were thoroughly enjoyed by the staff. \nThe sessions were thoroughly enjoyed by all staff members.

DESCRIPTION:On 8th March 2022\, a program on ‘Recitation of Prose and Poems’ was organised to celebrate International Women’s Day. The program gave an opportunity to the students to express themselves and it was attended by 60 students\, few attended online. Mrs. F.Z Tarapore\, the founder principal of the college was the chief guest for the program. She interacted with the students on this occasion and guided them as to how the Home Science graduates can take part in the government run programs for the betterment of Women and Children. She also narrated how the alumni of the college have been actively participating in such programs. \nPrincipal Dr. Muktaja Mathkari addressed the students on Women Empowerment on this occasion.

DESCRIPTION:National Science Day was celebrated on 28th February 2022. A competition was organized for the students. Participants had to make original video of application of science in everyday life/ activities. There was a good response and participation for the competition. Anushka Sahasrabuddhe of FY BSc (ND) won the first prize for her entry “Application of Fingerprint Technology in Our Lives”. \nAn online lecture and presentation was also organized for students and teachers. The speaker\, Smt Shraddha A Belambe spoke about the significance of National Science Day and prominent Indian scientists and their contribution to different spheres of science. Her session also included videos showing application of science in daily life. \n

From the second term of Academic year 2021-22\, the students have started attending college offline. \nPrincipal Dr. Muktaja Vikas Mathkari had an interaction ‘Frooti with Princi’ with the under graduate and Post graduate students on 25th February\, 2022. The interaction was an informal talk between the Principal and students. The students were served with Frooti and cake. The theme of the conference was “Rethinking Humanities: Harmonizing Humanities and Science”. Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo\, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor\, SNDT Women’s University was the Guest of Honour for the conference. Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Ami Upadhyay\, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor\, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University\, Gujarat. Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan (former Vice Chairman UGC\, National Research Professor – Ayush Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences SPPU) was the speaker for the technical session. Dr Muktaja Vikas Mathkari\, Principal\, SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune was the Convener of the Conference. Dr Sonali Rode\, Joint Director Higher Education Mumbai Division\, Mumbai gave the Valedictory speech. \nTwenty four research papers were presented in the conference on a wide range of topics related to the theme of the Conference by participants from different states across India. A special Issue of Journal “Research Chronicler” (A Peer Reviewed\, Refereed and Indexed International Multidisciplinary Research Journal) was released virtually. \n

DESCRIPTION:Government of India celebrates January 25th every year as ‘National Voters’ Day’ to encourage the youth to actively participate in the election process\, exercise their voting rights and be responsible citizens. The Election Commission decided to launch a nationwide effort to identify all eligible voters completing 18 years of their age. On this occasion\, an online program was organized on 25th January 2022. Voter’s oath was given to the students during the program. The program was attended by enthusiastic students\, teaching and non-teaching staff. \n
