DESCRIPTION:The Deeksharambha: Student Induction Programme (SIP) 2025–26 was conducted at SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune from 28th July to 4th August 2025. This initiative\, mandated by the University Grants Commission (UGC)\, is designed to help first-year undergraduate students transition smoothly into college life. \nThe programme introduced students to the values and legacy of SNDT Women’s University\, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020\, and the ethos of higher education. Sessions were conducted by experts on themes such as handling anxiety\, self-awareness and addiction\, healthy food choices\, communication skills\, lifestyle\, and stress management. \nThe programme included interactive activities\, case-based discussions\, mindfulness practices\, and communication exercises\, ensuring students’ active participation. A total of 154 students participated in the week-long programme.

DESCRIPTION:On January 25\, 2025\, students from the Human Development Department (SY) volunteered at Pune Marathi Granthalay for a State-Level Handwriting Competition. The event\, attended by 900 participants ranging from children to senior citizens\, provided students with valuable experience in event coordination and teamwork. Divided into two groups\, the volunteers managed the upper and ground floors\, ensuring smooth execution of the competition\, which was conducted in two batches: one for school children and the other for adults. The students demonstrated excellent organizational skills\, assisting with registrations and adherence to guidelines. Feedback from participants and organizers was overwhelmingly positive\, with the latter commending the students&#39; dedication and teamwork. SUMMARY:Spectrum January 2025
DESCRIPTION:Spectrum January 2025\, the much-anticipated annual event\, took place from January 10th to 13th at SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune\, with an abundance of enthusiasm and warmth. The students celebrated Spectrum Days from January 10th\, 2024\, to January 18th\, 2025\, through a range of themed days such as National Integration Day\, Green Day\, Bollywood Day\, Saree Day\, and Twins/Group Day. The event was officially inaugurated by Dr. Parag Kalkar\, Pro-Vice Chancellor at Savitribai Phule Pune University\, who guided students with his motivating speech and Dr. Ganesh Chavan welcomed the guest with speech following the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. This grand celebration was held at the Smt. F. Z.Tarapore Hall on the college campus. The event featured a variety of activities and competitions\, including the Traditional Attire Fashion Show\, Mehendi/Rangoli competition\,Cookery Contest\, Environment Awareness Rally\, Edu Quiz\, Edu Elocution\, EduEssay Writing\, and a range of sports events (athletics\, tug of war\, dodgeball\, cricket). Additionally\, the Entrepreneurship Mela\, Reel Making competition\, Miss Home Science (Sanskriti In the sports section\, cricket\, tug of war\, and several other activities took center stage. National Integration Day was observed to emphasize the Indian value of Unity in Diversity\, while Green Day focused on environmental awarenessthrough an informative rally and student-created posters promoting eco-friendly practices. The Prize Distribution Ceremony was graced by Prof.Bharat S. Vhankate as the Chief Guest\, where students who excelled in academics\, sports\, cultural events\, and NSS were honoured for their remarkable achievements. The event proved to be a truly engaging experience\, offering students a platform to exhibit their talents while taking a welcome break from their daily routines. Spectrum encouraged creativity and provided various opportunities for students to explore and develop their skills\, leavingthem motivated\, inspired\, and confident. \nPrize Winners :\nSanskrita – Miss Home Science Personality Contest \n\nMiss Sansktrita – Ms. Anuja Bhise (M.Sc. Renowned experts shared insights on emerging research and clinical applications.The visit provided valuable academic exposure\, allowing students to engage with experts and explore advancements in clinical nutrition and dietetics. \n

SUMMARY:AAVISHKAR Student Research Competition
DESCRIPTION:The AAVISHKAR Student Research Competition (Pune Zone) was successfully conducted on 21st December 2024 at Tarapore Hall\, organized by SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune. The event served as a platform for budding researchers to showcase their innovative projects and ideas. A total of 21 teams participated\, representing institutions across Ratnagiri\, Kolhapur\, Ahmednagar and the SNDT Women&#39;s University Pune campus. The competition highlighted the spirit of academic inquiry and fostered interdisciplinary collaboration among students from diverse fields. The event featured various research presentations and projects\, evaluated by a panel of experts from academia and industry. Participants demonstrated exceptional creativity\, critical thinking\, and problem-solving skills\, contributing to the success and intellectual rigor of the competition. \nProf. Virendra Nagarale inaugurated the AAVISHKAR competition as the Chief Guest\, accompanied by the Guest of Honor\, Principal Dr. Ganesh Chavan\, during the inauguration program. \n

SUMMARY:Health and Nutrition Assessment Camp
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Food Science and Nutrition of SNDT College of Home Science Pune had organized Health and Nutrition Assessment Camp for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the SNDTWU Pune campus on 19th December 2024. \nThe camp was Inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Vikas Desai Finance and Accounts officer of SNDTWU. Principal Dr. Ganesh Chavan welcomed and briefed everyone about this endeavour. The other dignitaries Dr. Vilas Nandawadekar Registrar SNDTWU\, Prof. Nirgude Senate Member\, Prof. Sheetal More Coordinator SNDTWU Pune Campus and Management Council Member\, Dr. Nalini Patil Director CHETNA appreciated the students efforts and encouraged them to take up many more such activities in future too. The event was also attended by Heads of departments and institutes\, teaching and non– teaching staff of various institutes of the campus. \nThe camp included measurement of height\, weight\, body fat\, BMI\, Blood pressure.  \nAn activity called Know Your Tiffin was also conducted for the visitors. The visitors were treated with healthy carrot and pumpkin soup and ragi moongdal ladoos made by the students \nAlong with the camp students also had a small food exhibition where they had put healthy foods for sale\, which were developed by them. The products were highly appreciated by all. \nThe camp was very well received and appreciated by everyone. \n            \n

SUMMARY:Lecture on Net Zero Campus
DESCRIPTION:A lecture on Net Zero Campus was organized on 29th November 2024 by SNDT College of Home Science Pune in association with The Eco Factory Foundation. The speaker for the program was Mr. Anand Chordia\, Director- Technical and Innovation\, Suhana Pravin Masalewale\, Founder- The Eco Factory Foundation. \nProf. Sachin Deore\, Director of Environment and Sustainability Centre\, SNDTWU briefed about Green Campus initiatives and how this initiative has to reach the staff and the students. The collaborative work with TEFF to make the campus green and achieve a Net Zero Waste Campus requires the full support and involvement of all the staff and students of the campus. \nMr. Anand Chordia shared the case study of India’s first Net Zero Warehouse of Suhana at Bhuleshwar and how they have turned their nine industries into Zero waste industries. The same can be achieved at Pune campus. He emphasized that a pilot Project Sanvardhan has been initiated with SNDT College Home Science Pune which is showing fruitful results and can be scaled up on the entire campus. If there is wholehearted involvement and contribution from all the stakeholders\, SNDTWU Pune campus can be the pioneer in achieving NET ZERO Campus in India. \nDr. Ganesh Chavan\, Principal\, SNDT College of Home Science\, in his concluding remarks\, reemphasized the success of projects in association with Suhana and TEFF and assured the participation of staff and students in upcoming activities. As a step towards making Campus Zero Waste ‘Plogathon’ can be arranged to orient and encourage the students to segregate the waste and discard the same in the right manner. Dr. Chavan assured that the collaborative activities with TEFF will be taken ahead to make a sustainable campus.  \nThe program was attended by the Principal of the colleges\, Heads of the departments\, Teaching and Nonteaching staff of the campus\, and students of various colleges. \n

SUMMARY:Voting Awareness Campaign
DESCRIPTION:Voting awareness campaign was organised at SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune on 18th November 2024. NSS PO Dr. Lalieetaa Bbhagat informed about the activities covered under voter’s awareness campaign. Mr. Dandekar from Art of Living Foundation interacted with the students and mentioned that ‘every vote matters. He explained the importance of voting and responsibility of voters. Prof. Sangita Shirode\, Principal\, SNDT College of Education mentioned that voting is fundamental duty of every citizen and students should be proactive in performing the same. Chairperson of the program\, Dr. Ganesh Chavan\, Principal SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune in his address stated that every eligible citizen must vote By taking part\, individuals fulfil their responsibilities as citizens and contribute to the development of a society that represents their goals and beliefs.
