SUMMARY:Display of Aesthetic Accessories: Exploring Creativity\, Design and Expression
DESCRIPTION:Art and design are two creative disciplines that are often intertwined but serve distinct purposes. While both involve creativity\, expression\, and aesthetics\, their objectives and methods can vary greatly. As a part of academic curriculum\, FY.BSc students organized a fair on 23rd October\, 2024 displaying unique\, attractive and diy art work using various materials to make quilling art\, pen stand\, wall hanging\, canvas painting\, light lamp\, crochet flowers\, desk organizer and many such creative accessories under the Design & Aesthetics subject offered by Department of Resource Management.  A total of 70 students came together to showcase their talents with great enthusiasm. \nThe display was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Ganesh Chavan who appreciated the good work done by the students and celebrated not only the art on display\, but also the dedication\, passion and creativity of our young minds.

DESCRIPTION:The department of Human Ecology and Consumer Services and Textile Science and Apparel Design organised a exhibition on 23rd October 2023. The exhibition showcased the creative works of the students. Dr. Ganesh Chavan\, Principal \, SNDT College of Home Science inaugurated the exhibition. He appreciated the students work and mentioned that as Home science education largely focuses on hands-on activities\, practicals\, and skill development\, many of the creative works produced through this education have the potential to be patented. If these creations are commercialized\, they will have even greater financial value. The exhibition was organised under the leadership of Dr. Lalieetaa Bbhagat Head of these two departments. The exhibition was visited by staff\, students\, parents\, and distinguished guests from the Pune campus and surrounding areas. \n

SUMMARY:One Day Fun School
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Human Development at SNDT College of Home Science organised a “One Day Fun School” for preschool parents on 19th October 2024. The event was inaugurated by our esteemed Principal\, Dr. Ganesh Chavan. The program featured an exhibition showcasing teaching materials and various activities created by students of B.Sc. Human Development. These resources were specifically designed to facilitate holistic development in preschool children. The displays included sensory activities\, art projects\, and educational games that promote cognitive\, emotional\, and physical development. fun games and activities were organised for preschool children. These games were strategically designed to enhance skills such as teamwork\, problem-solving\, and motor coordination\, all while ensuring a fun and engaging experience for the children. Two informative lectures were arranged for parents\, focusing on child nutrition and the importance of preschool education. The event attracted a large number of parents\, and bothchildren and parents actively participated in the program. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive\, indicating that the program was aresounding success. One Day Fun School was a remarkable success\, achieving itsobjectives of fostering parental engagement and promoting holistic development for preschool children. The event not only provided valuable resources and knowledge to parents but also created a joyful atmosphere for children to learn and play together. \n

A well-designed landscape not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the property but also creates a harmonious outdoor environment where one can relax\, entertain\, or enjoy nature. \nIn order to provide an in-depth knowledge about Landscaping\, a guest lecture was organized on 9th October\, 2024 by Department of Resource Management for TY.BSc. students specializing in Interior Designing to brief them about indoor and outdoor landscaping as well as principles of design. It helped students to understand various plants to be placed indoors and outdoors with its benefits through a detailed discussion. Ms. Neha Joshi was the resource person for the same. \n

SUMMARY:Celebration of International Architecture Day
DESCRIPTION:World Architecture Day\, celebrated on the first Monday of October each year\, is a global observance that honors the vital role of architecture in shaping the built environment and\, by extension\, our daily lives. \nThe students of RM Department celebrated this day on 7th October 2024\, through an innovative idea of displaying rich heritage of Indian monuments and glorifying the designs\, patterns and structural features of each state. The SY and TY students contributed in this event and collected the information which was transferred into a QR code and a display of Indian map was put up at the entrance lobby of SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune.  \nPrincipal Dr. Vrushali Nagarale (Addl. Charge) and Head of the Department Mrs. Anuja Kinikar along with the teaching faculty appreciated the efforts that had gone into making the event a big success. \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:Orientation lecture on Understanding Entrepreneurship
DESCRIPTION:On 4th October 2024 an orientation lecture on ‘Understanding Entrepreneurship’ was conducted by ‘DeAsra’ for the students of SNDT College of Home Science.‘DeAsra is a foundation started by Dr.Anand Deshpande which helps easy running of small businesses. The platform simplifies the aspects of starting\, managing and growing of the small business. The resource person Mrs. Manisha Tapaswi made the orientation feel so friendly yet so professional for our students. More than 200 students registered and attended the orientation. The Principal Dr. Vrushali Nagarale welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship. The orientation program helped the students to identify their sparks of being an entrepreneur and to identify their future’s path. The fun problems in business how to classify and overcome them with the basic human nature made the program engaging.  The success stories of small businesses reaching heights surely made a positive impact on the students inspiring to be the entrepreneurs and job creators. \n

SUMMARY:National Nutrition Month Celebration
DESCRIPTION:National Nutrition Month 2024 was celebrated with great enthusiasm to raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating and active living. Focus areas for Rashtriya Poshan Maah\, 2024 were Anaemia\, Growth Monitoring\, Complementary Feeding\, Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (PBPB)\, Technology for better governance\, transparency and efficient service delivery including other general areas such as; Breastfeeding\, First 1000 days\, Yoga for Health etc. Various engaging activities were organized by the department of Food Science and Nutrition at SNDT College of home Science to promote nutrition education among the students. \nOn 23rd  September 2024\, a cooking competition was arranged to feature participants preparing nutritious beverages\, chutneys and dips using locally sourced ingredients. The emphasis was on creativity and health benefits. A panel of judges evaluated the dishes based on taste\, presentation and nutritional value. Winners received certificates\, fostering a spirit of healthy cooking in the community. \nOn the same day E- Poster making competition was also conducted to encourage participants to creatively express their understanding of Complementary feeding and Importance of nutrition in Anaemia. Students submitted digital posters that focused on two themes namely\, “Importance of Complementary Feeding” and “Combating Anaemia”. edition of the departmental e-newsletter\, “Khadyafora”\, promoting awareness beyond the event. Interesting Nutritional games were made by the students  \nbased on themes like\, Anaemia; Complementary Feeding and Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi to create awareness among the other students as well as staff members. \nStreet play competition was arranged on 24th September\, 2024 based on the themes of Anaemia\, Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi and Complementary feeding. Some vibrant street plays were performed by the students\, highlighting the significance of balanced diets and the consequences of poor nutrition. The performance attracted a large audience\, effectively conveying messages about healthy food choices and lifestyle habits. A panel of judges evaluated the plays based on various parameters and chose the winners. \nOn 25th September 2024\,  a seminar was organized by the department of Food Science and Nutrition at SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune focusing on the topics: “The First 1000 Days of Life”; “Human Milk Banking” and “Scope of Lactation Counsellor”\, to spread more knowledge about these areas. The session on “The First 1000 Days of Life” was taken by Ms. Vaishali Madkaikar\, Pediatric Nutritionist\, while the speaker for the other two sessions was Ms. Amrita Desai\, Lactation consultant. \nThe celebration of National Nutrition Month 2024 successfully engaged participants and highlighted the importance of nutrition in everyday life. The combination of performances\, competitions\, and nutrition awareness activities not only educated attendees but also inspired them to make healthier choices.

SUMMARY:Activity as Nutri Buddies with Project HaNSA
DESCRIPTION:On 3rd September 2024\, Students from MSc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics II year embarked on a meaningful journey as Nutri-Buddies an activity in collaboration with the inspiring Project HaNSA (Health and Nutrition for School-Aged Children)\, Harvest Plus\, and Agrozee. This initiative was part of the celebration of National Nutrition Month (Poshan Maah 2024)\, aimed at positively impacting school children’s health and nutrition. As Nutri-buddies\, MSc CND students introduced the school children to a Nutri-Diary\, a fun and interactive tool that they could use to track their daily food consumption. Nutri-Buddies conducted various interactive activities to raise awareness about anemia and malnutrition among school children. They also highlighted the importance of hygiene\, hand washing\, and regular physical activity in their daily lives. To make these sessions lively and interactive\, Nutri-buddies conducted nutrition edu-aware-tainment. Through games\, audio-visual aids\, and interactive chatting sessions\, they transformed learning into an enjoyable experience for children.

SUMMARY:Deeksharambha Program
DESCRIPTION:The one-week Deeksharambha Program (Induction) which was held at SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune from 26th August 2024 to 31st August 2024 was\, organized as per the directives guided by NEP 2020 with an objective to introduce the first year students to various college related activities\, committees and career opportunities for their overall development in an all-new environment. The inauguration of the program was conducted on 26 th August 2024 at the hands of Dr. Vrushali Nagarale\, Principal who welcomed the students to the institute and congratulated them for securing admission in SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune. She motivated students to explore their academic interests and activities\, and make them work for excellence\, promote bonding within them\, build relations between teachers and students\, giving a broader view of life and character building. The key topics covered in the program were Student Support Schemes\, Mechanism of Antiragging Committee and Understanding Grievance Redressal\, Career in Management field along with visits to Maharshi Kutir\, BMK Knowledge Centre\, Department of Communication and Media Studies and JDBIMS College. Later it focused on NCC guidance and NSS activities along with sports and cultural events to enhance the physical and psychological wellbeing of the students. Distinguished speakers and eminent people from varied backgrounds were invited to illuminate their minds with an approach of holistic development of the students. A total of 125 students participated in this program and all the Faculty\, non-teaching staffs and student mentors from across programs worked extensively to ensure that the induction program was well organized. \n

DESCRIPTION:SNDT Women’s University’s Pune Campus celebrated the 78th Independence Day with immense pride and enthusiasm. The event was graced by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor\, Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo\,who presided over the function. The celebrations were marked by various events that showcased the spirit of patriotism and unity. \nThe dignitaries on the dias included Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madam\, Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo\, Senate Member\, Smt. Manjusha Kanade\, Senate Member Shri. The flag hoisting was followed by by the National Anthem\, Maharashtra Geet\, University Song. The students of Department of Music for Post Graduate Studies and Research presented a special song instilling a sense of pride and patriotism among all present. \nThe highlight of the program was the Guard of Honour\, presented to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madam by the NCC cadets. The cadets demonstrated exceptional discipline and coordination. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor madam\, was felicitated by Dr. Vrushali Nagarale\, Principal (Addl.Charge) SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune which was the host college. The other dignitaries were also felicitated. The retiring staff members of the University were felicitated as per the tradition. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor madam felicitated Dr. Rashmi Hasamnis of Dept. of Commerce for Post Graduate Studies and Research. Since Dr. Surekha Bhagyawant\, faculty of SNDT College of Education\, was unable to attend the function her felicitation was received by her daughter\, Ms.Sumedha. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madam delivered her presidential address during the Independence Day program. Madam in the speech mentioned the significance of Independence Day and the responsibility that comes with the freedom we enjoy. She also emphasized the importance of education and the role of students in contributing to the nation’s progress. Her words were inspiring and left a lasting impact on everyone present. The Vice Chancellor Madam\, also praised the cadets for their dedication and the discipline they displayed\, emphasizing the role of the youth in safeguarding the nation’s future. \nThe program was compered by Shri. DESCRIPTION:World Breastfeeding Week was celebrated in the community by students from SNDT College of Home Science Pune in collaboration with Tara Mobile Creches (TMC) and Nutrition Society of India Pune Chapter. Students from Department of Food Science and Nutrition conducted interactive sessions on the ‘importance of breastfeeding’ and ‘complementary feeding for children in age group 6-12 months’ with lactating women. The sessions were conducted in the daycare centres at various construction sites in Pune adopted by TMC from 3rd to 7th August 2024. About 18 students from M.Sc. DESCRIPTION:The final year students of M.Sc. Nutrition and Food Processing\, took part in ORAH CHALLEGE to conduct research on Antioxidant Homogenization. Four groups with four participants conducted trials and submitted their report of the findings to the Judges of the Challenge\, Ms. Shriya Teli and Mr. Rohit Dubepatil from ORAH Nutrichem Pvt.Ltd. The following students won the 1 st Prize- Arpita Pain\, Anshita Arya\, Swasti Deshmukh and Sarah Santrampurwala and 2nd prize winners were Fiza Pathan\, Pratiksha Dhame\, Priya Atanur\, Sakshi Dhangar. \nThe students were appreciated for demonstrating exceptional skill\, innovation\, and dedication\, they excelled in tackling real-world industry problems with a hands-on approach\, which significantly contributed to bridging the gap between academia and industry. The students were felicitated with the prizes at the hands of Dr. Vrushali Nagarale\, Principal (Addl. Charge) on 23rd July\, 2024.

Themes ranged from environmental conservation to groundbreaking scientific innovations\, demonstrating the participants understanding and imagination.\n Scitoon (Science Cartoon Making Competition): This unique competition provided a platform for students to express their scientific knowledge and critiques in a light-hearted manner. The creativity and insight displayed in these cartoons were commendable.\nScience Project Exhibitions: These exhibitions showcased innovative projects and models developed by students\, covering a wide range of scientific disciplines. Participants from various departments across the SNDT College of Home Sciecne\, Pune came together to showcase their talent and creativity\, drawing inspiration from a wide array of scientific concepts\, phenomena\, and achievements. The themes for the Rangoli designs were as diverse as science itself\, ranging from depictions of celestial bodies\, DNA structures\, and floral biodiversity to creative representations of renewable energy sources\, the periodic table and famous scientists and their inventions.\n\n\nLecture by Mr. Mayuresh Prabhune: The culmination of the Science Day celebrations was marked by a lecture on the Achievements of ISRO in Space Research' by Mr. Mayuresh Prabhune\, a renowned science reporter. This event is held at the prestigious Tarapore Auditorium on the 6 th of March\, 2024\, the lecture attracted a large audience of students\, faculty and science enthusiasts. Mr. Prabhune’s insightful discourse on India's strides in space exploration and ISROs pivotal role in advancing space research captivated the audience.
