SUMMARY:Activity as Nutri Buddies with Project HaNSA
DESCRIPTION:On 3rd September 2024\, Students from MSc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics II year embarked on a meaningful journey as Nutri-Buddies an activity in collaboration with the inspiring Project HaNSA (Health and Nutrition for School-Aged Children)\, Harvest Plus\, and Agrozee. This initiative was part of the celebration of National Nutrition Month (Poshan Maah 2024)\, aimed at positively impacting school children’s health and nutrition. As Nutri-buddies\, MSc CND students introduced the school children to a Nutri-Diary\, a fun and interactive tool that they could use to track their daily food consumption. Nutri-Buddies conducted various interactive activities to raise awareness about anemia and malnutrition among school children. They also highlighted the importance of hygiene\, hand washing\, and regular physical activity in their daily lives. To make these sessions lively and interactive\, Nutri-buddies conducted nutrition edu-aware-tainment. Through games\, audio-visual aids\, and interactive chatting sessions\, they transformed learning into an enjoyable experience for children.

SUMMARY:Deeksharambha Program
DESCRIPTION:The one-week Deeksharambha Program (Induction) which was held at SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune from 26th August 2024 to 31st August 2024 was\, organized as per the directives guided by NEP 2020 with an objective to introduce the first year students to various college related activities\, committees and career opportunities for their overall development in an all-new environment. The inauguration of the program was conducted on 26 th August 2024 at the hands of Dr. Vrushali Nagarale\, Principal who welcomed the students to the institute and congratulated them for securing admission in SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune. She motivated students to explore their academic interests and activities\, and make them work for excellence\, promote bonding within them\, build relations between teachers and students\, giving a broader view of life and character building. The key topics covered in the program were Student Support Schemes\, Mechanism of Antiragging Committee and Understanding Grievance Redressal\, Career in Management field along with visits to Maharshi Kutir\, BMK Knowledge Centre\, Department of Communication and Media Studies and JDBIMS College. Later it focused on NCC guidance and NSS activities along with sports and cultural events to enhance the physical and psychological wellbeing of the students. Distinguished speakers and eminent people from varied backgrounds were invited to illuminate their minds with an approach of holistic development of the students. A total of 125 students participated in this program and all the Faculty\, non-teaching staffs and student mentors from across programs worked extensively to ensure that the induction program was well organized. \n

Charge) of SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune. \nThe celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National flag. The flag hoisting was followed by by the National Anthem\, Maharashtra Geet\, University Song. The students of Department of Music for Post Graduate Studies and Research presented a special song instilling a sense of pride and patriotism among all present. \nThe highlight of the program was the Guard of Honour\, presented to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madam by the NCC cadets. The cadets demonstrated exceptional discipline and coordination. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor madam\, was felicitated by Dr. Vrushali Nagarale\, Principal (Addl.Charge) SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune which was the host college. The other dignitaries were also felicitated. The retiring staff members of the University were felicitated as per the tradition. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor madam felicitated Dr. Rashmi Hasamnis of Dept. of Commerce for Post Graduate Studies and Research. Since Dr. Surekha Bhagyawant\, faculty of SNDT College of Education\, was unable to attend the function her felicitation was received by her daughter\, Ms.Sumedha. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madam delivered her presidential address during the Independence Day program. Madam in the speech mentioned the significance of Independence Day and the responsibility that comes with the freedom we enjoy. She also emphasized the importance of education and the role of students in contributing to the nation’s progress. Her words were inspiring and left a lasting impact on everyone present. The Vice Chancellor Madam\, also praised the cadets for their dedication and the discipline they displayed\, emphasizing the role of the youth in safeguarding the nation’s future. \nThe program was compered by Shri. Hemant Patil\, faculty\, SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Sheetal More\, Campus Coordinator expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madam\, Head of Departments\, Principal of Colleges\, teaching and non teaching staff of the campus and all the participants. The Independence Day celebrations at SNDT Women’s University\, Pune Campus was a grand success\, filled with patriotism\, unity\, and pride. \n

Mrs. Joshi provided practical examples of such activities and discussed how they contribute to a child’s overall cognitive and emotional growth. SUMMARY:World Breastfeeding Week Celebration
DESCRIPTION:World Breastfeeding Week was celebrated in the community by students from SNDT College of Home Science Pune in collaboration with Tara Mobile Creches (TMC) and Nutrition Society of India Pune Chapter. Students from Department of Food Science and Nutrition conducted interactive sessions on the ‘importance of breastfeeding’ and ‘complementary feeding for children in age group 6-12 months’ with lactating women. The sessions were conducted in the daycare centres at various construction sites in Pune adopted by TMC from 3rd to 7th August 2024. About 18 students from M.Sc. SUMMARY:Orah Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The final year students of M.Sc. Nutrition and Food Processing\, took part in ORAH CHALLEGE to conduct research on Antioxidant Homogenization. Four groups with four participants conducted trials and submitted their report of the findings to the Judges of the Challenge\, Ms. Shriya Teli and Mr. Rohit Dubepatil from ORAH Nutrichem Pvt.Ltd. The following students won the 1 st Prize- Arpita Pain\, Anshita Arya\, Swasti Deshmukh and Sarah Santrampurwala and 2nd prize winners were Fiza Pathan\, Pratiksha Dhame\, Priya Atanur\, Sakshi Dhangar. \nThe students were appreciated for demonstrating exceptional skill\, innovation\, and dedication\, they excelled in tackling real-world industry problems with a hands-on approach\, which significantly contributed to bridging the gap between academia and industry. The students were felicitated with the prizes at the hands of Dr. Vrushali Nagarale\, Principal (Addl. Charge) on 23rd July\, 2024.

The program was attended by the students\, principals\, heads of the departments of the other institutions of the campus. The chief guest delivered her lecture on the theme to inspire inclusion and to celebrate diversity in all fields. She also included the importance of education in empowerment of women which aids in the overall development of society. The lecture was informative as evolution of Women’s Rights was also very well explained by the speaker. Prof.Subhash Patil proposed the vote of thanks for the program. \n

SUMMARY:Leeds Beckett University Orientation Program
DESCRIPTION:Academicians from Leeds Beckett University visited the college on 7th March 2024. The guest speakers included Ms. Kate Austin\, Course Director for BSc (Hons) Nutrition and MSc Nutrition in Practice and Ms. Linsey King\, Course Director for MSc Dietetics. The aim of the program was to orient our students to the courses they have at Leeds Beckett University and talk about the opportunities of work in the UK. They were accompanied by Mr. Kunal Hulbe\, who was the International Development Officer at the South Asia Office. He too interacted with the students and discussed the benefits of choosing to study at Leeds Beckett University. The program was attended by all UG and PG students of the FSN department. \n

The guest speaker was Dr. Ujjwal Nene\, who is a Clinical Psychologist with many decades of experience. She talked to the students about what stress is and how to cope up with the same. She also took an activity and taught them some deep breathing techniques. Coping up with academic related stress was one angle she touched upon. \n

DESCRIPTION:The SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune\, under the auspices of its Science Department\, recently concluded a week-long celebration in honor of National Science Day. Commencing on the 28th of February and culminating on the 6th of March\, 2024\, the event showcased a vibrant spectrum of activities designed to foster scientific temper and creativity among students. The celebration was marked by an array of competitions\, exhibitions\, and lectures\, encapsulating the spirit of inquiry and innovation. \n\nPoster Making Competition: The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments\, each vying to represent scientific concepts and ideas through artistic expressions. Themes ranged from environmental conservation to groundbreaking scientific innovations\, demonstrating the participants understanding and imagination.\n Scitoon (Science Cartoon Making Competition): This unique competition provided a platform for students to express their scientific knowledge and critiques in a light-hearted manner. The creativity and insight displayed in these cartoons were commendable.\nScience Project Exhibitions: These exhibitions showcased innovative projects and models developed by students\, covering a wide range of scientific disciplines. From sustainable technologies to advanced research models\, the exhibitions provided a glimpse into the  potential future directions of scientific advancement. It was an opportunity for students to present their research\, receive feedback\, and interact with peers and professors on a platform that celebrated scientific inquiry and invention.\nRangoli Competition: The Science-Themed Rangoli Competition took place on foyer of the college where students transforming it into a vibrant canvas that displayed the intricate relationship between art and science. Participants from various departments across the SNDT College of Home Sciecne\, Pune came together to showcase their talent and creativity\, drawing inspiration from a wide array of scientific concepts\, phenomena\, and achievements. The themes for the Rangoli designs were as diverse as science itself\, ranging from depictions of celestial bodies\, DNA structures\, and floral biodiversity to creative representations of renewable energy sources\, the periodic table and famous scientists and their inventions.\n\n\nLecture by Mr. Mayuresh Prabhune: The culmination of the Science Day celebrations was marked by a lecture on the Achievements of ISRO in Space Research' by Mr. Mayuresh Prabhune\, a renowned science reporter. This event is held at the prestigious Tarapore Auditorium on the 6 th of March\, 2024\, the lecture attracted a large audience of students\, faculty and science enthusiasts. Mr. Prabhune’s insightful discourse on India's strides in space exploration and ISROs pivotal role in advancing space research captivated the audience. His talk not only highlighted the technological achievements of ISRO but also inspired the attendees to aspire for careers in science and technology.\n\n

SUMMARY:Spectrum January 2024 – The Annual Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Spectrum January 2024\, the annual gathering was organized and celebrated with lots of energy and warmth from 29th January to 31st January 2024 at SNDT College of Home Science\, Pune. The students celebrated Spectrum Days from 16th January 2024 to 25th January 2024 with a variety of themes (Green\, Glitz & Glam; Bollywood\, OTT\, Batch theme\, Saree and National Integration day). The Spectrum was inaugurated at the hands of Prof. Sachin Deore\, Principal. After the lighting of the lamp a welcome speech was given by the Principal. The event was held in the Smt. F. Z. Tarapore Hall of our college. In this mega festival various events and competitions were conducted such as mehendi\, photography\, travel vlog\, variety entertainment\, cookery competition\, Sanskrita – Miss Home Science\, fun fair and Sports. In sports ceremonies\, events such as cricket\, tug of war\, and many other sports activities were held. National Integration Day was celebrated to mark the Indian value of Unity in Diversity Green Day was celebrated with an environment rally\, the program was marked by creative\, informative and environment safety awareness posters made by the students. A street play competition was also held during environment rally. During the Prize Distribution Ceremony Ms. Payal Jadhav\, Actress was the Chief Guest and the students who excelled in academics\, sports\, cultural activities and NSS were given prizes for their achievements. The event was genuinely captivating. Students were thrilled because Spectrum provides them with a stage on which to showcase their abilities and take a break from their everyday schedule. Students are given many opportunities to explore their talents\, and these kinds of activities keep them engaged\, inspired\, and self-assured. \n

DESCRIPTION:A Skill Enhancement Certificate Course in ‘Interior Model Making and Rendering Techniques’ was organized by the department of Resource Management from 16th January 2024 to 20th January 2024 for the final year students of Interior Space Design. Architect Mr. Sunil Mestry was the resource person for the same.  \nThe students prepared miniature models of various residential and commercial spaces and learnt the effective use of available space to create effective and efficient Interior Design. They also learnt how various textures can be created in the models prepared by them to bring in reality. This training and experience would create entrepreneurial opportunities for the students in future.  \nThe Interior Models prepared by the students were displayed in the lab. The Certificates of completion of this course were distributed at hands of Principal\, Prof Sachin Deore and the Marathi movie star Ms. Payal Jadhav.  \n
