Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University (SNDT WU), celebrated its foundation day on 5th July 2020. A program was organized on Pune campus by SNDT College of Home Science College, Pune which was chaired by Principal Dr. Muktaja Vikas Mathakari. Prof. Vidya Deshpande, the Management Committee member of Karve Shikshan Sanstha was the guest of honor. Tribute was paid to Bhartaratna Maharashi Dhondo Keshav Karve, founder of the University. Vyas Pujan was also planned as it was Guru Pournima day.

Professor Deshpande stated that “The Vision of Maharshi Karve and the foresight of Sir Vithaldas Thackersey led to the establishment of the first Women’s University in India in 1916.” Dr. Mathakari, in her address talked about the challenges and plans to overcome them. Dr. Nalini Patil gave an introductory note.

All department heads, teachers and professors including the non-teaching staff from the campus were present on the occasion.
All the norms of the social gathering were strictly followed considering the COVI19 situation on in the city.
